Do not use this company!
So I travelled to Ireland where we'd hired a car for four days.
Everything was fine until I returned the car to Europcars compound at the end of the hire.
The car was returned about 5.30pm, which was well within the return time. But unfortunately nobody to deal with me!
The car was as it was when I hired it so I took photos of the car from every side and angle I could as I'd read that Europcar can try to blame damage etc on the hirer.
To my surprise, I was sent an email with a photo of one of the tyres deflated?
I know if that tyre was flat or punctured, it would have alerted me on the display! It hadn't!
I requested photos of the actual damage to the tyre and CCTV of the area, as when I left the car there was no security or anything preventing someone coming on to the compound.
Europcar said there was no CCTV? They also said that they don't have to show the actual damage to the tyre?
So, hold on!
The tyre was inflated on the photos I sent them.
They said it was the side wall of the tyre, although there was no damage to the wheel?
Also, on the photo of the 'punctured' tyre, there was no sign of damage?
I tried to reason with these people and said I understood their position, so I would make a contribution. They flatly refused to negotiate and threatened me with their solicitors!
They even tried to tell me that the car was my responsibility after I'd finished my hire and handed the keys to them?
To be honest I can't be bothered to fight it, so I have paid the £242.18 and treated it as an expensive lesson learned! There are better and more transparent rental companies out there!
I will never use EUROPCAR again!

Don't trust these people! They will threaten you and try to make extra money from you any way they can!

Europcar overcharged us by EUR 267 for an 11 day hire in Ireland.This was despite having an agreed price arranged through Carflexi before we left Australia. Carflexi tried to suggest that we may have increased the insurance at the time of pickup, which was absolutely untrue, as we already had cover through our travel insurance. Europcar has offered nothing as to why we were overcharged. As at today's date we have tried persistently to get a response and a resolution, but we only get "we are looking into it". It has been 4 months now without them properly responding. It seems to me this is a scam they operate as it is too hard to get a refund when you are back home in Australia. From other reviews I can see this may not be an isolated experience. People should check all of the reviews before they take out a car rental with these people. It is already very expensive without this level of overcharging.
Very disappointed and bad experience
Not recommend please safe your time and money
Booked a car for 8 days over the phone and paid up front. Later received a call saying they had to cancel the hire as they did not have a car available. Have still not received my money back 3 days later. Was informed by their customer service that it could take up to 10 days. Not acceptable seeing as it was their mistake.
Being charged for miniscule mark requiring a microscope to find.
£250 for a scuff to 4 year old citroen C3 with nearly 60,000 miles is nonsense.
If you must rent with this co then video every inch of the bodywork
